"Summertime done come & gone, My, Oh, My"

Summertime is in fact easing it's way out to make way for fall. Schools are back in session and we are looking forward to great new music, our one year anniversary in October (time has flown by!) and RSD Black Friday, but let's not get too ahead of ourselves! There is great music out now, Tom Petty, OCMS, Ty Segall, Shovels & Rope, Ace Frehley, Jenny Lewis, Eric Clapton & Friends tribute to J.J. Cale and more. Drop by and listen in.

Last Saturday, we took a road trip to the Mercy Lounge to see our good friends, Government Cheese take the stage and plow through 2 punk spirited sets. While we're all a little older, they still rock and we still have the energy to pogo dance like a Ramones crowd! If you missed them, truck up to Louisville on September 27th and check them out! This is also the perfect time to let you know that we have their back-in-print 2 disc anthology 1985-1995 on Cedar Creek Music. Also, hitting the racks this fall, Robert Plant, Ryan Adams, Justin Townes Earle, Queen Live at the Rainbow 1974 (vinyl is exclusive to indie stores), The Beatles mono releases on vinyl, Smashing Pumpkins Adore anniversary release and more to come! For all you Deadheads out there, 2 major release are set for the fall, first up on September 9th "Wake Up To Find Out: Nassau Coliseum, Uniondale, NY 3/29/1990," the legendary show with jazz great Branford Marsalis sitting in with the Dead for the first time and the next installment in the Garcia Live series, "Garcialive 5: December 31st 1975 Keystone Berkeley," is released on October 28th.

Don't forgot to keep up with us on facebook, instagram & twitter!

BE LOCAL...BUY LOCAL!

As always, thanks for your continued support of Mellow Matt's.  We take pride in partnering with local businesses, carrying local and regional artists, hosting live in-stores and trying to carry as much local handmade product as possible.  We love our community and want to do our part!  Speaking of local music, thanks to all that came out to the Otis CD release party on Saturday.  They killed it out in the parking lot!  We have copies of their new release "Tough Times" for 11.99 and if you don't live in town we can do mail order, just give us a ring.  Speaking of mail order, we are fully set up and can ship anywhere.  Anything you see on our facebook, Instagram or Twitter feed we can ship.  We also have an Ebay page but know that we put everything out in the store first before we go to auction or set sale.  We don't buy to do immediate auctions, we are first and foremost brick and mortar,  your independent local record store and are always here to serve you!

SUMMERTIME AT THE RECORD STORE

Our summer is already off to a busy start at the store.  Plenty of used vinyl coming through the doors and pouring out into the racks!  Plus, killer new releases by Jack White, Willie Watson, Chris Robinson Band, Lana Del Rey, Lee Bains and the classic Led Zeppelin remasters!  In-store live sets are scheduled for Plastic Visions and Sea Life on June 23 and we will be holding court at Lost River Pizza for our monthly return of "Vinyl Takeover" on July 16!  Also, be on the look out for summer releases by Phish, Old Crow Medicine Show, Mastadon, Trampled By Turtles, Syd Barrett reissues, The Beatles "Hard Day's Night" Criterion Collection & more! Stop in and see us!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

It’s that time of the year and next to Halloween, this is my favorite time of the year! Friends and family getting together, seeing people that you don’t get to hang with often, helping others, buying gifts for those special peeps and the music! I absolutely love Christmas music! When people say they don’t care for it, it just doesn’t make since, there is so much out there to choose from. Even if you don’t like the classics, how about the eccentric stuff by My Morning Jacket, Weezer, The Civil Wars or Dylan, The Kinks, Chuck Berry or even Mr. Hendrix bringing us some cheer with “Little Drummer Boy.” See, I think there’s something for everyone in the Christmas catalog.

With that being said, we are in full Christmas cheer at the store and have some great events in the coming weeks!

As we start our own traditions at Mellow Matt’s, join us Saturday, December 21st our “Christmas Cheer Sale,” we’ll have live music from local favorites helping to make the season bright with a few holiday tunes of their own! Plus, coffee and tasty treats from Spencer’s and 25% OFF all used merchandise and 10% OFF new CDs, vinyl, stereo equipment & supplies!

Wednesday, December 18th, join us for our second "Vinyl Takeover with Mellow Matt's" at Lost River Pizza Co. located at 2440 Nashville Road in the Penn Station Center. Bring your vinyl or just come hang out and enjoy! The fun starts around 7 pm.

Monday, December 23rd we’ll continue the Christmas jams with an afternoon set with Kentucky’s own Greg Martin. He’ll be strumming a few holiday classics, giving them his own flavor of jam fueled blues action!

Then on the afternoon of Christmas Eve we’ve got Brennan Graves dishing out a set Christmas cheer that will have you asking for an extra cup of eggnog!

Thanks for your continued support of Mellow Matt’s Music & More. We are happy to serve your needs and support this beautiful community that we live in. When you’re out shopping remember to try out that local store first and see what they have to offer!

WELCOME

Music speaks on so many levels to us and often connects when languages can’t.  I have been into music all my life, whether getting me through tough times or being a part of celebrations, it has always been there for me.  Kiss was the band that hit me first in 1977 and as a 7 year old they blew me away with their larger than life sound and they certainly had a mystique about them.  As I started to grow up, music was always with me and in my teens I started working in a record store helping with inventory and then getting hired as Christmas help.  I have since stayed in the business and now by following my passion I am able to fulfill my dream of opening up my own store.  Welcome to Mellow Matt’s Music & More, a place with a little something for everyone who’s into music! Come see us…
